of brazilian prison riots.. media and cell phones
a string of prison riots in various prisons of brazil have convinced the media there that the nation is facing a civil war.
whats more ridiculous is that cellphones are deemed more dangerous than the gun as the prisoners are using this to co-ordinate their attacks
Abstract : More than 60 people died last weekend in prison riots scattered across four Brazilian states -- Sao Paulo, Parana, Mato Grosso do Sul, and Minas Gerais.
PCC, which stands for Primeiro Comando da Capital (or First Capital Command), is one of the most dangerous criminal organizations in Brazil, along with Comando Vermelho (or Red Command).
According to Brazilian law, cell phone use is forbidden by prisoners, but enforcing this code is still a problem not solved by the jail system.

Indonesia's Merapi volcano erupts with lava and huge clouds of hot gases early on May 15, 2006, as seen from Cangkarang village on the outskirts of Yogyakarta, the provincial capital of Central Java province in Indonesia.
On Sunday police set up roadblocks to keep vehicles from getting within seven or eight kilometres of the crater, but allowed villagers to return to their homes to care for their farms

The great escape - trapped miners finally freed
imagine being trapped for 2 weeks in a 1.2 meter tall cage...
Working around the clock in shifts, specialist miners bored through more than 13 metres of rock over the past week with a giant drilling machine to reach the men. Cutting the final sections of the tunnel was slow and difficult, as the men used hand tools to avoid causing a cave-in.
The men had to save each other before even contemplating the problem of getting themselves back to the surface from almost 1km underground.

russia is encouraging people to have more children
coming from India, this is amazing to me..
In his seventh state-of-the-nation address on Wednesday Vladimir Putin highlighted the necessity of solving several urgent but long-standing Russian problems — first of all of boosting birth rate. There was a “consensus in society” that Russia’s falling population must be addressed and Putin indicated the government would take measures to encourage young couples to have more children, he said.

latest news abstract:
As with other phases of this rescue though, there are new challenges to rescuers, this time the threat of a cave-in should their work lead to a rock fall. They've got to work out…
They've got to square off the tunnel and prepare it so that it's safe for the rescuers to actually start drilling upwards.
BILL SHORTEN: The real problem with mining upwards that's been explained to me is that above the skin of hard rock, which will exist between the start of the vertical shaft and where the men is, there will be fill.
DAVID HARDAKER: The service will be conducted by one of Larry Knight's high school friends, a man who's now the local head of the religious bikie group known as the God Squad.
CAN let go
unlike Gyanendra of nepal here is a king who is responsible and shows true leadership..
The widely expected ruling came after King Bhumibol Adulyadej sternly suggested last month that the top courts find a way out of what he called the country's political "mess".
